The SAC Formators Meet was held on August 09 & 10, 2016 at Prabodhana, Mysore. This meeting was attended by the Very. Rev. Fr. Jacob Nampudakam, the Rector General. Also present for the meeting were all the three provincials of the three Pallottine entities in India. The meeting was well attended by formators of all the houses of formation. In all there were 25 participants. The meeting began with input sessions by Fr. Joe Mathias SJ, the Rector of St. Peter’s Pontifical Seminary, Bangalore, who presented “A new pedagogy for integral formation of candidates to consecrated life in India today”. Very Rev. Fr. Jacob Nampudakam, in his session the following day, gave his insight on the key essential formative concerns of Pallottine formation today and what it entails. Very Rev. Fr. Varghese Pullan, Provincial Rector of Prabhu Prakash Province, spoke on behalf of all the Provincials and presented the challenges they face in the field of Priestly formation today. Most of the time was spent in a lot of discussions and deliberation on the different stages of priestly formation, its challenges and the shortcomings that we meet in our Pallottine formation. The fruit of the meeting was that we were able to chalk out a plan and to put forward a few recommendations for the future of the Pallottine formation in India. We appreciate the efforts of Fr. Valentine Alphonso and other members of the PSFI in successfully organising this Meet.
