October 04, 2010 will go down into the history of the Society of the Catholic Apostolate. On this day the delegates of the XX General Assembly elected an Indian for the first time in its history as the next successor of the founder St. Vincent Pallotti. It was at, 9.30 a.m. this day the Assembly declared Rev. Fr. Jacob Nampudakam SAC., as the new Rector General of the whole Society.
Rev. Fr. Jacob Nampudakam SAC was born on 10 August, 1955 at Ayyampara in Kerala, India. He was ordained priest in 1981. He is a member of the Epiphany of the Lord Province, Nagpur, India. After his priestly ordination, Fr. Jacob has worked in different capacities as spiritual director, novice master, director of the Pallottine Animation Centre, General Secretary of the Society and of last as General Consultor. For the past 12 years, he was also the General Secretary for Formation of the Society. Rev. Fr. Jacob Nampudakam holds Master's Degree in Philosophy and Spirituality as well as a Licentiate in Psychology from the Institute of Psychology, from the Gregorian University, Rome.
Rev. Fr. Jacob Nampudakam took over the office of Rector General in a moving ceremony of profession of faith and oath-taking in the Chapel of Divine Master, Ariccia, Rome in the presence of Rev. Fr. Karl Heinen, the Procurator General, Rev. Fr. Mathew Panakal and Rev. Fr. Aleksander Pietrzyk, the moderators of the Assembly and all the members of the XX General Assembly. As the Rector General, Fr. Jacob Nampudakam will continue to work for the development of the Society and the Pallottine Family in the spirit of the Charism of the Founder, St. Vincent Pallotti, and in a spirit of collaboration.
