The installation of the New Provincial Council of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Province took place on January 06, 2023, at Assumption House, Bangalore presided over by His Grace Most Rev. Stephen Brislin, Archbishop of Cape Town, South Africa and concelebrated by Very Rev. Fr. Charles Fernandes SAC, former Provincial, Very Rev. Fr. Roque Teodorio Gonsalves SAC, the Provincial elect together with the new Provincial Council. The ceremony was attended by the outgoing Provincial council and other Pallottine confreres.

Restructuring of the ABVM Province and Canonical Erection of New Entities

Assumption House, Bangalore,

This spiritual and historical event took place on January 06, 2020 at Assumption House, Bangalore, during the solemn Eucharistic celebration, presided over by Very Rev. Fr. Jacob Nampudakam SAC, the Rector General and concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Romuald Uzabumwana SAC, General consultor; Rev. Fr. Markus Hau SAC, the Mission Secretary, Germany; Rev. Fr. Alexander Holzbach, the Provincial Consultor (Germany), the three Pallottine Major Superiors in India; the newly elected Provincial/Regional Rectors together with their consultors along with other confreres in the presence of special invitees. The Eucharistic celebration was followed by felicitations to the new office bearers. The event came to the climax with fellowship meal. On this day the New Provincial Council of our Province took charge. Very Rev. Fr. Jacob Nampudakam and Rev. Romuald Uzabumwana addressed the new Provincial Council.

Seventh Ordinary Provincial Assembly

Prabodhana, Mysuru

The Seventh Ordinary Provincial Assembly of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Province, Bangalore was held at Prabodhana, Mysuru from January 10 -14, 2022. It was indeed a momentous event because it is the first Assembly after the Transformation and our member’s hopes and aspirations for the new Province were truly reflected in the course of the deliberations. There were thirty members with voting rights who participated in the deliberations of the Assembly along with 2 observers. Fr. John Sequeira OCD set the tone right for the Assembly with the thought-provoking recollection talk and expounded the theme of the Provincial Assembly: “Moved with Compassion.” It was a time of common sharing accompanied by God’s spirit, in mutual listening, dialogue and decision making. A detailed report of all the discussions, deliberations and decisions will be found in the ACTA Vol. VII after the approval by the General Council.

Perpetual Consecration 2022

The parishioners of Our Lady of Vailankanni Church, Farla-Mangalore

On the 31st of May 2022 at 4-30pm., the parishioners of Our Lady of Vailankanni Church, Farla-Mangalore, were witness to a unique celebration where God’s chosen 3, namely Bro. David Fernandes, Bro. Jeevan Dsouza, Bro. Jithesh Dsouza from the Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary Province, consecrated themselves at the feet of the Lord, sealing their bond with Him and with the Pallottine Society of the Catholic Apostolate, all for the greater ‘Infinite Glory of God’. The Thanksgiving Holy Eucharist was presided over by Provincial Very Rev. Fr. Valerian Charles Fernandes SAC and con-celebrated Fr. John Pereira Parish Priest and Fr. Paul Coutinha a local rector and by many fathers. The solemn singing of the choir added grace to the spiritual ambience. The ceremony of Perpetual Consecration clubbed with the feast of the Visitation of Mary and the last day of the month of the Rosary, all culminated with joyous note of praise and thanksgiving. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass was followed by fellowship and agape in the parish hall. The entertainment for the evening, put up by parish children, was hugely appreciated by one and all present.

On 31st May, 2022, two Novices of our Province made their First Commitment in the Society of the Catholic Apostolate at St. Vincent Pallotti Church, Banaswadi, Bangalore. Rev. Fr. Manohar Josley Noronha, Vice Provincial presided over the Holy Eucharist and received their consecration. Confreres from Bangalore Local Community, Religious and some lay people joined in the celebration. We extend our hearty congratulations to our newly professed members Bro. Adithya Prakash and Bro. Shayan James Cutinha.

First Holy Martyrs of the Holy Roman Church,

On June 30, 2022, commemorating the Feast of the First Holy Martyrs of the Holy Roman Church, we were blessed to have three young men ordained Deacons, during the con-celebrated Holy Eucharist presided over by Most Rev. Dr. K. A. William, Bishop of Mysore Diocese. Very Rev. Fr. Valerian Charles Fernandes, the Provincial Rector of the ABVM Province, and other provincials, along with many Pallottine confreres and other priests, religious and lay faithful, took part in this joyful celebration. We congratulate the newly ordained Deacons and wish them God’s abundant blessings in their ministry!

On August 25, 2022, ABVM Province organized a one-day seminar on ‘Financial Management’ at Pallotti Home, Chicalim. CA. Sunil Gonsalves and CA. Gaver S. Lobo were the resource persons for the day. They shared their thoughts on recent challenges and solutions to the problems in the financial management of our institutions. It was a resounding success as it was attended by more than 30 participants representing different congregations.

All the Parish Priests of our Province, working in India had two days Seminar on 19th and 20th September Organised by the Secretariat for Apostolate. The first day was dedicated to reflect on the theme: “Pastoral care of Families”, guided by Fr. Henry Falcao and the second day was spent in sharing the experiences and a short outing together in the evening.

The XXII General Assembly of our Society was indeed a historical event which was held for the first time outside Rome at Konstancin, Poland from 19 September to 08 October 2022. The central theme that ran through the process of the General Assembly was ‘Moved with Compassion’ which has to be the way of life and the driving principle of all our ministries and activities.

Annual Retreat 2022

Konstancin, Poland

The Annual Retreat for our Province was held from 17 October to 21 October 2022 at Pallotti Home, Chicalim, Goa. In a collaborative spirit, some of the members from the Khrist Jyoti Province, Raipur also joined in this retreat. The retreat preacher was Rev. Fr. Marlon Rodrigues OCD who guided the participants during these five days of spiritual journey. From both the provinces, altogether 30 confreres participated in this Retreat.
